Teaching Programs

ESL:  Malaika Project volunteers have been teaching English to Zinduka board members and Nyamuswa Drama Group in both small classes and individual tutoring.  English language skills enable them to participate in local conferences which are conducted in English, to write documents to international funders and friends, and to better communicate with the world outside of Tanzania .

Math and Science:  For the past several years Malaika Project volunteers have taught Math and Science classes at Makongoro Secondary School .  The school has a shortage of teachers, and welcomes this support.

Primary School English: Baraka Academy (Formerly known as Nyamuswa Academy ) has enjoyed working with Malaika Project volunteers with skills in early education.  They are building an English primary school one grade at a time and are seeking volunteers interested in teaching.  We are also collecting books for a library.

Nyamuswa is in severe need of teachers.  If you would like to volunteer, please look over the application and volunteer FAQs and get in touch with the project coordinator, Jennie Howland at jenniemalaika@yahoo.com
